Quality home battery installations for Bath, Bristol and the surrounding areas

  • Store excess solar energy to be used later.

  • Charge your battery with cheap off-peak grid electricity to cut bills.

  • Increase energy management flexibility.

  • Help to reduce grid demand during peak times and reduce the need for fossil fuel power stations to come online.

With the advent of battery storage systems or home batteries, a revolution has occurred in the renewables industry driven by the flexibility they provide. The vast majority of new solar installations are now fitted with home batteries, clients with existing solar are seeing the advantages of this investment and seeking retrofit options which are further incentivised by VAT relief offered by the government.

Our electric energy storage systems afford our clients the steps towards grid independence they require and a massive increase in flexibility; giving the ability to retain more of the energy available. We have the know-how to specify, install and setup a battery storage system for your requirements in alignment with the latest British Standards for electrical & renewables installations ensuring reliability and safety of your system.

  • As of 1st February 2024 there is no VAT to be paid on batteries regardless of if they are retrofitted to an existing system, an entirely new system or whether the battery is part of a solar PV installation.

  • At heliowatt we like to go further than our competitors and have confidence in the quality of our installations, that’s why we provide a 5 year workmanship warranty on our work. This is additional to the manufacturer warranties which are typically 10 - 15 years meaning you can rest assured you are well covered.

  • There are a number of variables that affect this including how much energy you use, when you use that energy, how much you pay for your energy and if you have solar PV how much it generates. We can do these calculations in line with the MCS standards and recommend a capacity best suited to the needs of your property and you.

  • If you are thinking of increasing your home battery storage capacity we can specify a total capacity that suits your needs. As a general rule if you are consuming your battery and it is being charged back up to full within the day (solar) or alloted off peak time (no solar) then you could well benefit from additional storage capacity.

  • A battery or electrical energy storage system (EESS) cannot be installed just anywhere. For example loft spaces, understairs, at exit points or where people sleep are all deemed to be inappropriate due to regulations for battery safety. Typically the most easily compliant and practical places are often outside, in a garage or in a utility room. We can check and advise on the best location for your needs that is compliant with the standards of “PAS 63100:2024 Electrical installations. Protection against fire of battery energy storage systems for use in dwellings”.
